Our story
Matilo began with a dream to create a little corner of the Klein Karoo where people could slow down, reconnect and feel at home in the mountains. Built with our own hands and shaped by a deep love for this landscape, Matilo is personal to us. We wanted to create more than somewhere to sleep. We wanted to create somewhere to breathe. Somewhere couples could put their phones down, pour another glass of wine, sit beneath the stars and remember what it feels like to simply have time together. Every detail has been chosen with that feeling in mind. Welcome to Matilo. We hope you leave feeling a little lighter than when you arrived.

Before you book
Please review these important property details before booking to ensure Matilo is the right escape for you.
Cactus Deck is approximately 200m from the R62. Passing vehicles are visible and audible, both day and night.
Aloe Cabin is approximately 400m from the R62, offering greater seclusion. Vehicles are not visible from the cabin, but traffic can still be heard.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available but may be affected by weather, rural signal strength and network interruptions.
Both cabins operate entirely on solar power. Air conditioning is available strictly between 10:00 and 17:00 only.
